Manifesting my Dream Home: Step 2- Figuring out your "WHY"

Updated: 5 days ago

Thinking Beyond the Linear

When we think about manifesting our desires, most of us approach it in a very linear way. For example, if you want a house, the typical thought process might go:

  1. I need to make more money.

  2. I need to get a mortgage.

  3. Then I can get my house.

It’s a logical path, and there’s nothing wrong with it. But what if the universe had other ways to deliver that house to you? What if the house could come as a gift, through an inheritance, or even as an opportunity to live somewhere fabulous at no cost?

When we think linearly, we unintentionally limit how our desires can show up in our lives. We block the infinite possibilities that exist by focusing on a narrow set of options.

Here’s the truth: the universe knows more than you do.

The universe has connections, resources, and creative solutions that are beyond what you can imagine. It sees the shortest, most effective path to your desired outcome. Your job isn’t to figure out how it will happen—it’s to focus on what you want and why you want it.

Getting to the Heart of What You Really Want

Sometimes, what we think we want isn’t really the end goal—it’s a means to an end.

Take money, for example. Many people want to manifest more money, which is wonderful. But ask yourself: Is it truly money you want? Or is it what money can provide?

Let’s break it down:

  • If you manifested $1,000,000 today, would you simply hold onto it and do nothing? Probably not.

  • You’d spend it—on a house, a vacation, a car, or maybe helping loved ones.

So the real question becomes: What are you actually trying to manifest?

Digging Deeper: The Why Behind Your Desire

To get clear on what you really want, you have to dig deeper. Ask yourself:

  • Why do I want this?

  • What feeling or experience am I seeking?

Here’s an example of how this process works:

Q: What do you want to manifest?

A: I want to manifest $1,000,000.

Q: Why?

A: So I can buy a house outright and not worry about a mortgage.

Q: Why do you want the house?

A: I want a place that’s secure and stable, especially with all the uncertainty in the world.

Q: What would having that house give you?

A: A sense of security and peace.

So the real desire isn’t the money or even the house—it’s security and peace.

By identifying the feeling behind the goal, you can focus your energy on manifesting that feeling. And here’s the beauty of this approach: the universe can deliver that feeling to you in countless ways, not just through the money-house-security equation.

Sometimes the universe delivers what we want in ways that are far outside the realm of what we’d logically expect. Here are some creative, unexpected ways the feeling of safety and security might manifest that do NOT require you to attract a million dollars first:

  1. Winning an Unusual Contest or Raffle: Imagine entering a giveaway and winning a year’s worth of free rent, or even a fully furnished home in a safe and peaceful neighborhood.

  2. An Off-the-Grid Opportunity: You might stumble upon a chance to live on a private property or eco-retreat in exchange for minimal caretaking duties.

  3. Bartering Your Skills: Perhaps you could offer a skill—like design, cooking, or childcare—in exchange for housing or other forms of stability. Someone might value your contribution so much they offer you security in return.

  4. A Rare Housing Exchange: You could encounter someone looking to swap homes temporarily or long-term, allowing you to live in a safe and beautiful space at no extra cost.

  5. A Completely New Location: You might be guided to a part of the world where living costs are low, the community is warm and welcoming, and you naturally feel secure and at ease. For example, moving to a quiet village overseas or a hidden gem of a town you hadn’t considered.

  6. Discovering a Unique Housing Setup: Imagine finding an opportunity to live in an artist’s collective, a wellness retreat center, or even a converted historic building that has all the safety and charm you desire.

  7. An Unlikely Connection: You might meet someone who offers you a guest house, tiny home, or even a room in their mansion simply because they feel a connection to you and want to share their resources.

  8. Winning Over a Stranger’s Generosity: Picture a scenario where a random act of kindness leads to an ongoing opportunity—like a landlord offering you a safe space at a reduced rate because they resonate with your energy or story.

  9. A Mysterious Windfall: A surprise opportunity might arise from an unknown or forgotten source, such as an old account, a legal settlement, or even a random refund you didn’t know was due.

  10. A Creative Work-Trade: You could find an opportunity to live and work at a yoga retreat, meditation center, or farm that provides you with a sense of safety, belonging, and purpose.

  11. A Unique Co-Living Situation: Imagine connecting with a group of people who share similar values and deciding to create a safe, communal living space where everyone contributes and supports one another.

  12. An Unexpected Invitation: A friend, distant relative, or even a casual acquaintance might invite you to live in a safe and beautiful space they own but don’t currently use—simply because they trust you.

A Real-Life Example: Thinking Beyond the Linear

One of my clients had an interesting breakthrough. She wanted adventure and travel, but she also needed to work and save money. It felt like she had to choose between being practical and pursuing her dreams.

When we worked together, I asked her to focus on what she really wanted: the security of a home and the sense of adventure. Instead of choosing one or the other, I suggested she set her intention on having both.

Not long after, she discovered an opportunity to house-sit in Acapulco. She lived in a beautiful home on the beach, worked remotely in the mornings, and spent her afternoons exploring. It was the perfect blend of adventure and stability—something she hadn’t considered possible because she was thinking linearly.

The universe had a creative solution ready, but she had to open her mind to it.

Instructions: Finding Your Why

Here’s how you can uncover the true desire behind what you’re manifesting:

  1. Start with Your Surface Desire

    • Write down the thing you think you want. For example: “I want to manifest $1,000,000.”

  2. Ask Why You Want It

    • Why do you want this? What would it allow you to do or experience?

  3. Ask Why Again

    • Keep asking “why” until you uncover the core feeling or experience you’re truly seeking.

  4. Focus on the Feeling

    • Once you’ve identified the core desire, such as security, freedom, or joy, shift your focus to manifesting that feeling.

  5. Align with the Vibration of Your True Desire

    • Feel the emotion of having that security, freedom, or joy now. The more you align with that vibration, the more the universe will bring it to you. More on this later

Let the Universe Handle the Details

Remember, it’s not your job to figure out how your desires will manifest. When you focus on the core feeling or experience you want, the universe can work through its infinite network of possibilities to deliver it to you in the best way possible.

It might look different than you expect—but trust that it will feel exactly how you want it to feel.

Your Turn

Take a few moments to journal about something you’re trying to manifest. Dig into your “why” until you uncover the true feeling or experience you’re seeking. Then, let yourself align with that vibration, and trust that the universe will handle the rest.

What insights did you uncover? Share your thoughts—I’d love to hear how this process works for you!
